Livestream Announcement: What If A Database Was A Map?
For our next livestream we're speaking with Arby Hisenaj from Common Knowledge about Mapped, a tool for organisers and campaigners that transforms databases and membership lists into interactive maps.
On Tuesday 25th November from 7.30pm GMT we'll be speaking with Arby Hisenaj from Common Knowledge about the Mapped project's motivations, successes and future.
Technology is, at the end of the day, just different ways of accessing databases. It's Sisyphus pushing an SQL query up a hill. But Mapped adds, well, maps. It adds zooming. It makes the rows and columns tangible and conforms them to the rugged geography of normal island, transforming the turmoil of campaigning into a grand strategy game. A mesmerising lattice of ideological psychogeography.
A tool like this has clear and present utility for all manner of campaigners, activists, unions, charities and map-enthusiasts. It could be the future. It could even be the present.
So join me (Sean), Kim and Emma on the GFSC Twitch channel from 7.30pm GMT on Tuesday 25th to ask questions, take part in discussion and learn more about this project.
